Day Two at the Mill

The day started out pretty well.  I was working on motifs and repeat patterns, learning different ways to utilize the software to achieve my goals.  Then I started having issues with the computer misbehaving.  And then I was having issues with my motifs looking horrible when taking them into another application.  At that point, I was beginning to think that I should start happy hour early.  But despite my Maker's Mark moments, I finally got things working right.  I even managed to get a sample ready for the mill by late afternoon.  It was so worth the frustration! 

I've died and gone to fiber heaven...

Yesterday morning, I packed up my car and hit the road.  I do so love a good road trip, and my destination made this one of the best.  I'm in Hendersonville, North Carolina for a week-long class at The Jacquard Center.  Gorgeous, peaceful setting...nothing to do other than work on repeat patterns...trips to the mill to see our fabric being woven...does it get any better than that??  Okay, if you're not a fiber geek, I'll tell you the answer is no, it does not.  I was giddy going into the mill this afternoon.

   Today, we worked on aspect ratio to figure out what would be best for our designs.  It would be heartbreaking to spend a lot of time working on a design to find out that it would be distorted when woven...this prevents that heartbreak.  It was amazing to see the loom whip out my sample in no time flat!  I can't wait to work on my repeat patterns tomorrow.
